Sign Up Methods

You can sign up for Cirql using any of the following methods:

• Social login — Google, Microsoft
• Magic link — enter your email and click the link we send you
• Passkey — use Face ID, fingerprint, or a hardware security key

Note

Because Cirql is currently in preview, Google requires us to add approved email addresses before those users can sign in with Google. If you plan to use Google login, please share your Google account email address with us before signing up.

Complete Your Profile

During signup, you’ll be guided through a short setup flow:

1. Choose a display alias — this is the name others see, not your real name.
2. Learn about privacy — a short explainer on how encryption works.
3. Choose your encryption mode — Effortless or Self-Managed (see the Encryption guide for details).
4. Set a passphrase — 8 to 128 characters, used to protect your encryption keys.
5. Back up your keys (Self-Managed mode only) — a QR code you must save securely.

After signup, you’ll need to either create a Cirql or be invited to one before you can start sharing content. See the Cirqls guide to learn about group types.
